Royal Caribbean Cruises appoints new vice president of internal audit
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. named Tony Macias vice president of Internal Audit. Macias will be responsible for auditing the operations and monitoring the financial integrity of the company, working in close coordination with its chief financial officer and the audit committee of its board of directors. Macias will report to Royal Caribbean`s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Fain.

Tony brings a wealth of experience with him, in the hospitality industry and dealing with many large international organizations, Fain said. I look forward to his playing a key roll in our corporate governance and in overseeing our financial controls.

Prior to joining Royal Caribbean, Macias served as director of Business Risk Services in the Miami office of Ernst & Young, LLP. In that position, he was responsible for managing a staff that assisted multinational companies with accounting, auditing, and operational issues, such as Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including documentation, risk assessment, implementation of new controls, and corrective actions.

Macias also served as the Central America controller for the Australian mining company WMC Inc. Additionally, he was controller of Barcelo Hotels in Miami, and chief auditor for Sammons Management, a Dallas-based, all-inclusive resort company.

Macias is a Certified Public Account and has extensive experience in leading audits in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. Macias attended Texas Wesleyan University and earned a bachelor`s degree in accounting. Vicky Karantzavelou - Monday, December 06, 2004
