Sydney Airport plans major upgrade as it readies for new A380 airliner
Sydney Airport Corp will spend more than 100 mln aud over the next twelve months upgrading facilities for the new Airbus A380 airliner, chief executive Max Moore-Wilton said.

The project encompasses upgrading runway and apron infrastructure as well as improvement of terminal facilities, Moore-Wilton said in a statement.

He said the group is working closely with Singapore Airlines in developing A380-ready facilities. Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to fly the A380 while Sydney Airport will be one of the first airports in the world to welcome it.

Moore-Wilton said getting Sydney Airport ready for these new larger aircraft will also involve building new aerobridges and strengthening existing public road tunnels around the airport. Vicky Karantzavelou - Monday, March 21, 2005
