Leading Information Security Conference&Expo to draw 14,000 attendees
The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau (SJCVB) announced that RSA(r) Security, Inc. will hold its 2006 RSA Conference in San Jose, California. The 15th annual computer-security tradeshow and expo, scheduled for February 13-17, will bring together an estimated 14,000 information security professionals to discuss current trends, preview new products, and to share insights.

The conference, the largest of its kind globally, is considered the premier information security expo and is projected to generate more than $7 million in economic impact to the city based on the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (IACVB) standardized economic impact formula. The 2006 event marks a return to San Jose for the RSA Conference, which hosted its 1999, 2000, and 2002 conferences in the Capital of Silicon Valley before moving to San Francisco. While RSA Conference officials credit several factors for their decision to return to San Jose, they said that the ease of working with the SJCVB staff and the bureau`s flexibility topped the list.

It was clear that they wanted us to come back, said Sandra Toms LaPedis, vice president and general manager, RSA Conferences. The staff`s willingness to work with us made it an easy decision.

Toms LaPedis also cited the convention center`s downtown location, within close proximity to many hotels and to the region`s light-rail system. She also noted that a conference centered on technology seemed a natural fit for Silicon Valley. Bureau officials were pleased to reach an agreement with the RSA Conference.

We are proud to welcome the RSA Conference back to San Jose, said Dan Fenton, SJCVB president and CEO. It will allow us to showcase our facilities and services to a global audience and help to further spread the word about the city as a meeting destination. Theodore Koumelis - Friday, April 22, 2005
