Tanzania among world`s top eco-tourism destinations
Monday, September 12, 2005
Tanzania is among the top three leading eco-tourism destinations in the world, local media quoted the Tanzania Tourist Board last week. The other two countries are Kenya and Egypt.

The three countries came on top of a poll conducted online and based on some 60,000 booking enquiries submitted by online booking agencies to travelers last year, according to the tourist board that is in charge of tourism in the east African country.

Tanzania and Kenya were both chosen for their understanding of the importance of tourism to wildlife conservation and poverty reduction strategies toward especially those communities neighboring wildlife parks and reserves.

Wildlife attracts over 75 percent of the tourists in both Tanzania and Kenya while Egypt has been polled in for its adventure holidays and for its rich history and ancient architecture.

Other countries that have improved their rankings on the poll conducted by responsibletravel.com are India, Peru, Morocco and Ecuador whereas South Africa, Nepal, Thailand, China and Vietnam dropped their placings down the polling table.

Tanzania offers a wide-ranging opportunity for fauna and flora lovers from around the world to witness animals and plants in the country`s 14 national parks and scores of nature reserves and conservation areas.

Serengeti, the biggest national park in Tanzania, has been named as one of the 50 must-go-to-in-lifetime places in the world by the National Geographic magazine.

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
