Egypt, Turkey boost tourist cooperation

The coming stage will witness an increase in the tourist field between Egypt and Turkey especially following the rise in tourist influx between the two countries.

The office of the Turkish Cultural and Tourist Attache in Cairo said the neighboring relations between Egypt and Turkey play an important role in increasing cooperation, pointing out that the number of Turkish tourists who visited Egypt this year increased to 1,000 up to 30% compared with last year.

The number of Egyptian tourists who visited Turkey last year amounted to 35,000 with an increase of 12 percent compared with a year earlier, the office said.

Egypt and Turkey achieved a remarkable development in tourism sector, the office noted, adding that cooperation between the two countries would increase tourism revenues for both countries.

The Egyptian-Turkish cooperation in the field of tourism will increase their shares of international tourism volume which achieves steady increase by 25% as the number of tourists during 2004 reached 760 millions; Turkey attracted 17.3 million of such figure.
