Hong Kong Ocean Park plans to expand
Friday, September 23, 2005
The Ocean Park in Hong Kong plans to invest a total of 5.5 billion Hong Kong dollars in expanding the park, with the intention of making it become the most excellent ocean theme park in the world and meeting the challenge from Disneyland.

The expansion work is expected to start off next year and finish by 2010. When completed, the number of large entertainment activities in the park will be doubled to about 70.

The senior managing group from the Ocean Park said the expansion did not aim to compete with Disneyland. While the Disneyland focused on cartoon images, castles and fantasy, the Ocean Park displayed more of nature, ocean and animals. The two served as complementary to each other with different types of pleasures.

The Ocean Park in Hong Kong has a history of 28 years. In 2004, about four million tourists visited the park.
