Thursday, June 28, 2001
The European Hotel Managers Association (EHMA<.>) announced an agreement reached with Andersen to promote greater knowledge and understanding on the industry.
Under the terms of the agreement Andersen will become partners of the European Hotel Managers Association and will present the annual results of the Andersen Hotel Industry Benchmark Survey at the EHMA's annual congress in February each year. The EHMA will endorse the European edition of the Andersen Hotel Industry Benchmark Survey. Launched in 1996, the European report currently tracks performance on 30 markets in terms of occupancy, average room rate and rooms yield every month. Over 2,500 European hotels participate in the survey and it is regarded as the most comprehensive and authoritative source of monthly European hotel operating performance data.
Commenting on the relationship Joern U. Sroka, President of EHMA said: "This is the kind of collaboration we have been looking forward to for quite some time. Each member will be able to take maximum advantage right away of the early presentation made each year of Andersen's Hotel Industry Benchmark Survey. It is a very helpful vehicle to determine future action plans early in each business year".
Julia Felton, head of Arthur Andersen's global hospitality knowledge group, highlighted that, "We are pleased to have been accepted as partners of EHMA. The association's aims are similar to our own, in providing knowledge and resources to their members and the wider industry. We are particularly honoured that the EHMA has agreed to endorse the Andersen Hotel Industry Benchmark Survey. Their endorsement will hopefully encourage more hotels to participate and we look forward to a long and successful working relationship."
European Hotel Managers Association (EHMA) was established in Rome in 1974 and is a non-profit making organisation of Hotel Managers operating first class and luxury hotels of international repute, concerned with safeguarding the ethical foundation of their profession. Its members are committed to fostering fellowship and respect, as well as their own professional improvement to better serve the industry. In addition, the association seeks to provide a forum for discussion on issues shaping the future of the hotel industry. Today the association has 450 members in 26 countries.
Andersen the global professional services firm, launched the Andersen Hotel Industry Benchmark Survey in 1996. The survey is regarded as the definitive source of hotel performance data outside North America, and comprises information gathered from more than 4,500 hotels in 240 markets across 140 countries. The survey currently tracks hotel performance everywhere outside the Americas. Regional surveys are produced for Asia Pacific, Caribbean and Latin America, Europe and the Middle East and Africa. These are supported by in-depth country/city reports for Australia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK and London.
