Senegal`s ambitious plans
Tuesday, November 22, 2005
REPORT - WTM2005: Senegal has ambitious plans to attract 1.5mn visitors in 2010, which would be twice the current total.

Senegal wants to emphasise the diversity of its destinations. The ‘Petite Cote’ continues to attract most tourists with most of the resorts concentrate along the coast.

But now, after years of political instability, the Casamance is back on the tourism track, and expects 10 new or renovated hotels will open 2005-07.

Saint Louis, the old colonial port, capitalises on cultural tourism. Old colonial structures have been renovated and attractions and facilities expected to open soon include a convention centre, due 2007.
