Caribbean promotes its tourism product in New York
Wednesday, January 18, 2006
New York city welcomes an event organized by U.S. Virgin Islands at January 17-19 at Grand Central Terminal`s Vanderbilt Hall. The three-day consumer event will promote the rich culture, beautiful scenery, world-class hotels, quaint inns and attractions that make the U.S. Virgin Islands one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean.

Exhibits will showcase each island`s beautiful scenery and unique offerings, while Stanley and the Six Pack provide authentic music alongside mocko jumbie performances throughout the event. Expedia website booking kiosks will provide consumers the opportunity to take advantage of special pricing for travel to the islands, only offered in connection with the event.

Consumers who pass through the exposition will also have the opportunity to enter to win a four-day getaway to the U.S. Virgin Islands provided by Frenchman`s Reef and Morningstar Marriott Beach Resort and Spirit Airlines.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
