New GM at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo
Friday, February 10, 2006
Randy Shimabuku has joined Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence as General Manager. He takes over the reins of the hotel from Doug Housley who has transferred to Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco.

Hawaiian-born Shimabuku moves to Cairo after spending over three years at The Regent Kuala Lumpur, a Four Seasons property, where he most recently served as the Hotel’s General Manager. A veteran hotelier, Shimabuku’s career in the hospitality industry began in 1976 at the Bel Air Hilton’s Trader Vic’s. Following the Food and Beverage path, he spent the next 12 years studying at St Louis University and Cornell University and gaining experience with luxury hotels in Japan and Hawaii.

A Four Seasons man since 1988, Shimabuku joined the Canadian luxury hotel and resort group as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at their Toronto property. His career with the group took him to Seattle, Tokyo at Chinzan-so, Los Angeles and Bangkok before he arrived in Kuala Lumpur. Bringing a broad perspective on luxury and service he makes his debut into the Middle East at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence which opened in May 2000, the first Four Seasons property in the region.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to live in Cairo, one of the Middle East’s most vibrant and historical cities and to be working with such a professional and dedicated team,” said Shimabuku. “I look forward to Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence continuing to distinguish itself as a modern oasis offering business and leisure guests outstanding service at an exceptional location.”

Poll
How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
