BRACVB launches new web site for Baton Rouge Travel
Wednesday, February 15, 2006
Baton Rouge’s official tourism and travel Web site just got a major facelift, making it worthy of Louisiana’s largest city status. The Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has completely revamped and re-launched Visitbatonrouge.com, giving the site a new sophisticated look and state-of-the-art functions.

“The new Visitbatonrouge.com is up and running with all the bells and whistles expected from Louisiana’s capital city,” said Paul Arrigo, BRACVB President/CEO. “This new site shows potential visitors and travel professionals that Baton Rouge is the place to be – a cosmopolitan city with a lot to see and a lot to do.”

The all-inclusive site offers information for visitors, meeting and travel planners and media professionals, including collateral material for downloads, maps of the city, comprehensive hotel and accommodation information, links to area attractions and services, details on available meeting space and much, much more.

“The new Web site was one of the main objectives in 2006 for the Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau,” said Anisa McCarthy, BRACVB Director of Communications. “Its purpose is to expose the users to all the new aspects of the Capital City, as well as the city’s old favorites, in a medium that more and more travelers and meeting professionals are turning to – the Internet. The new site will make it easier for tourists, meeting planners, media and film industry professionals to soak in everything Baton Rouge has to offer.”

The site will also continue to allow users to make a hotel reservation online through a partnership with Travelhero site. Visitbatonrouge site automatically links users to the Baton Rouge section of the travel Web site and also offers a link from each individual hotel affiliated with Travelhero site. The user can then search for a hotel by chain name, property type, price range, distance from city’s center, direction and hotel amenities.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
