Golf week in Cologne to start in July
Monday, May 08, 2006
The second “Nordea Cologne Golf Week” will be held this year from 30.7. - 5.8.2006. Every region attractive for golfers in Germany and Europe has an established golf week for out-of-town guests and local members. The area within a 30-minute drive from Cologne boasts more golf courses than the Algarve in Portugal, a favorite destination of golfers. With 31 golf courses, the Rhineland has the greatest density of golf courses and players in Germany.

Short trips of three or four days are more and more in demand. City tours right across Europe have become especially popular since the rapid spread of low cost airlines. Since the region housing the Cologne-Bonn airport also has the largest one of this sort at its doorstep, it is naturally in a position to propose offers which are commensurately attractive.

The appeal is addressed to pleasure- and travel-loving golfers mainly from Cologne and its near surroundings as well as golfers interested in culture. Health and vitality, good eating and drinking, interesting trips with an eye on sports – these are only some of the things “best ager” golfers are out for nowadays.

7 days, 7 tournaments, 7 courses combined with culinary and cultural delights highlight the 1st Cologne Golf Week from 30.7. to 5.8.2006.

The selected and participating golf courses play a leadership role in the Cologne area and are already known in part throughout the whole of the Federal Republic.

They are listed in the following without priority:

A handicap-specific tournament takes place every day at a different course according to strictly defined quality standards. The interested player can choose whether to play in one tournament or more.

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
