New international services for Iceland Express
Thursday, May 18, 2006
Iceland`s only low fare carrier - Iceland Express started flying to new destinations in Europe and Scandinavia. In addition to the original destinations of London Stansted and Copenhagen Iceland Express are now using its expanded fleet of MD-90 aircraft to fly passengers from Reykjavik to Berlin, Friedrichshafen, Frankfurt-Hahn, Gothenburg, Stockholm and Alicante.

In addition later this month the airline will start the first ever international scheduled service from Iceland`s second city of Akureyri.

This service will operate to Copenhagen and Managing Director, Birgir Jonsson, commented Iceland has so much to offer beyond the charming city of Reykjavik - the whole north coast of Iceland is now being recognised as one of Europe`s most unspoilt areas for eco-tourism. Copenhagen is our first destination from Akureyri but we`re currently researching which other European cities would support a service - and London is high on that list!
