New director joins Maison de la France UK
Monday, May 22, 2006
Mr Jean-Pierre Courteau steps into the role of UK director at Maison de la France (the French Tourist Office) this month. Mr Courteau has spent the past six years as Director of the German office of Maison de la France. Prior to this, he held the position of Director of the New York office from 1993 to 1999. Working with the French Tourism Authorities since 1976, his 30 years of industry experience will doubtless serve him well in meeting the challenge of keeping France top of mind for British consumers, journalists and tourism professionals.

Mr Courteau comments, “I am delighted to have been appointed to the UK office, an opportunity for which I have been hoping for some time, and look forward to playing my part in the most important overseas market for French tourism.”

Following six years as UK director of Maison de la France, Mr Christian Lepage has recently taken his retirement. His career representing France encompassed a wide range of experiences from starting up a new office in Brazil, promoting France in Canada and most recently based in London, leading one of the largest Maison de la France international teams. Although heading to the sunnier climes of south-west France, no doubt he takes with him a great appreciation for all things British.

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
