First anniversary of joint Air France-KLM flying blue
Thursday, June 08, 2006
Flying Blue, the joint frequent flyer program (FFP) for customers of AIR FRANCE KLM, is celebrating its first anniversary. With 11,200,000 AIR FRANCE and KLM members, Flying Blue is Europe’s leading FFP, offering the highest membership levels and the fastest growth rate in membership. More than 10% of members joined the program in the past 12 months (two thirds of these new members are international customers).

Half of the new members joined online, with more than 30% of members opting to receive their Mileage summary and the e-newsletter via the internet.

Flying Blue is an innovative frequent flyer program with a four-tier structure (Platinum, Gold, Silver and Ivory levels), allowing some 70 million AIR FRANCE and KLM passengers to benefit from all the advantages of the two brand’s combined networks. Customers may also earn and use Miles on some 18,000 flights to 900 destinations operated by more than 30 airline partners and over a hundred non-airline partners.

“The success of Flying Blue is a perfect illustration of a win-win global commercial strategy, as shown by the excellent results of AIR FRANCE and KLM for 2005-06”, said Jean-Cyril Spinetta and Leo van Wijk, Group Chairman and CEO and Vice-Chairman respectively.

How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
