Associated Luxury Hotels adds its first hotel in Europe
Friday, July 21, 2006
To meet the growing needs of meeting planners in this increasingly global market, Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) has expanded its international membership with the addition of its first hotel in Europe.

The InterContinental London Park Lane in London, England is Associated Luxury Hotels’ newest member, and first in Europe. It joins other notable international members Fiesta Americana Grand Aqua, Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach, and Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos in Mexico; La Samanna on St. Martin in the French West Indies in the Caribbean; and Pan Pacific Vancouver and Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside in British Columbia, Canada. Associated Luxury Hotels also has four members in Puerto Rico, El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa, Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino, El San Juan Hotel & Casino, and Westin Rio Mar Beach Golf Resort & Spa.

Associated Luxury Hotels has served the meetings industry for over 20 years with its national sales responsibilities for its membership of more than 80 of America’s premier four- and five-diamond/star quality hotels and resorts, plus several extraordinary international hotels and resorts in Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean and now in Europe.

“With the addition of InterContinental London Park Lane to the select international hotels and resorts in the portfolio, Associated Luxury Hotels is more strategically positioned to best serve meeting planners in North America,” said David Gabri, president and CEO of Associated Luxury Hotels. “The globalization of the meetings, incentive, and convention business is increasingly apparent, so we’re simply meeting the demands of our meeting professional clients to offer them an array of upper-tier member options for their groups, with easy one-call access to ALHI’s National Sales Network.”

Gabri continued, “Associated Luxury Hotels is celebrating our 20th anniversary of serving the meetings, incentive, convention and exhibition industries in North America. Expanding our international membership helps meeting planners by providing to them easier access to these exceptional hotels and resorts, and it helps the properties by becoming more accessible to meeting planners in North America.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
