Scottish entrepreneur plans Zambian Airways marketing campaign
Thursday, July 27, 2006
Donald MacDonald, CEO of Zambia’s only low-cost carrier has announced the start of a sales drive to get more UK passengers travelling on Zambian Airways flights. With the launch of a brand new local web-site plus a UK call centre the airline is looking to develop new relationships with specialist Tour operators and direct passengers.

Don freely admits to being an aspiring African ‘Richard Branson’ and since taking over as CEO in April 2003 has turned Zambian Airways into a local success story. Now he’s aiming to spread the word to British travellers.

From March this year the airline has operated five times a week between Johannesburg and Lusaka. This is in addition to the scheduled services linking Lusaka to both the major tourist destinations (Livingstone, Mfuwe and Lower Zambezi) and the major population centres (Ndola, Lusaka, Chipata and Kitwe).

Donald said: “We’re proud to be Zambia owned and we’re committed to the development of convenient, affordable transport links into the region. As tourism develops Johannesburg has become an important hub for the international visitor to our country.”
