The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport receives accolades
Friday, July 28, 2006
The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport recently walked away with three separate accolades - 2005 Hotel of the Year Award, 2005 Torchbearer Award and a 2005 Food & Beverage Excellence Award - beating over 600 competitors from more than 100 countries across Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).

Awarded by Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport was recognised for achieving the best results in serving owners, customers, employees and their communities, gaining the top scores in the Guest Satisfaction Score (GSS) Index within the group, their brand and their brand`s standards and demonstrating their commitment to quality, profitability and concept development within the Food & Beverage area. The awards were open to properties within all four of IHG’s hotel brands - InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn.

Jean Evans, CEO of Dublin Convention Bureau, said We are delighted that one of our members has been honoured in this fashion and deservedly so! The multiple accolades not only highlight the dedication to excellence of the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport team but also demonstrate that Dublin can compete internationally in terms of quality, service and facilities.

Mary Buckley, General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport said We are delighted to have won these awards, and are honoured to have been selected from so many hotels. I am very proud of all our employees; this has been an excellent team effort and one that we will strive to win again next year!

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
