EL AL Israel Airlines show solidarity with Israel
Wednesday, August 09, 2006
EL AL demonstrates its commitment to Israel with the Lebanon conflict, by announcing special travel offerings, assisting solidarity missions from across the world, and helping people send relief items through reduced cargo rates.

The Galilee Spirit Project
EL AL has joined in a program designed to assist the tourism industry in Israel’s Northern Region, which has suffered greatly during the current conflict. The Galilee Spirit project will enable anyone to reserve nights in hotels, guesthouses as well as in bed and breakfasts, which they will pay for now and receive a voucher that can be redeemed until June 30, 2007. The vouchers can also be transferred to friends and family and used on any available non-holiday weekday. This project will continue for one month, through the end of August.

EL AL is working on The Galilee Spirit project in conjunction with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the Israel Ministry of Tourism, The Galilee Development Authority, the Israel Hotel Association, and the Prime Minister’s office.

“EL AL, the national carrier of Israel, doesn’t just fly planes, we fly our flag. EL AL has always been the link between Israel and the world and has never stopped flying. We are very proud that EL AL is not just a commercial airline but that, through the years, we have been the carrier of choice for thousands of missions assisting the needs of the Jewish community at large and those of the people of Israel,” stated Michael Mayer, CEO, North and Central America, EL AL. “Those reserving the Galilee Spirit will not only enjoy a wonderful vacation in Israel, they will be bringing great relief, both in financial support and morale, to our brothers and sisters in Israel.”

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
