More than eight hundred North Americans and British immigrate to Israel within a week
Thursday, August 10, 2006
EL AL will assist more than 800 North American and British immigrants move to Israel in the coming week as part of a six-day global “Aliyah” (immigration to Israel) campaign by Nefesh B’Nefesh. The first of four special EL AL flights to take off in one week carried 248 North Americans immigrating to Israel and departed from JFK.

Next week, three additional flights from the U.S., Canada and UK will depart Tuesday, August 15 and land simultaneously in Israel (on Wednesday, August 16th), resulting in record setting Western immigration in Israel’s history.

A total of seven EL AL flights this summer will bring more than 3,000 North American and British immigrants (in Hebrew, “Olim”) to Israel (five flights from JFK, one from Toronto and one from London) through The Nefesh B’Nefesh Organization, which removes or minimizes the financial, professional, logistical and social obstacles of “Aliyah”. Nefesh B’Nefesh works in close cooperation with the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
