Kanoo Shipping branches out to Sohar
Monday, August 21, 2006
Kanoo Shipping Agencies has established a new branch office in the booming strategic Omani port of Sohar. “Kanoo Shipping keeps growing and adapting to meet the ongoing needs of the marketplace,” said David Barker, Executive General Manager. “The rapid development of the port by the Oman Ministry of Transport and Communication - with three world class quays open serving the needs of Oman Oil, general stevedoring, fertilizer and methanol plants - means the time is right for Kanoo Shipping to be present to best serve our global and regional customers.”

Sohar Industrial Port, situated in the Al-Batinah region of Oman, has been developed within the framework of the Oman Vision 2020 which aims for diversification of the Oman economy, a greater involvement of the private sector and a balanced development of the various regions in Oman.

“By establishing a permanent presence in Sohar,” Barker added, “Kanoo Shipping Agencies can provide a more customized and prompt service to our partners and customers. It further emphasizes Kanoo Shipping’s commitment to the overall productivity of the GCC.”

Mr. Saman Nanayakkara has been appointed to manage the Sohar agency which will be supported by the 24 hour, 365 day Central Communications room in Dubai.
