The Shilla Seoul voted in the top fifty hotels in Asia
Thursday, September 07, 2006
South Korea’s hotel The Shilla Seoul was ranked among Asia`s Top 50 hotels in Travel + Leisure’s 11th annual World`s Best Awards 2006. The Shilla was the only hotel in Korea voted by the magazine`s readers alongside the world`s greatest hotels.

Seoul`s premier address scored an overall 83.43 points to be placed 48th out of Asia`s 50 top hotels.

The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan placed 1st for second consecutive year with 96.11 points, followed by Oberoi Udaivilas (India), The Peninsula (Bangkok) and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran.

In this year’s awards, Asian hotels accounted for almost a quarter of the world`s Top 100, underlining the region`s growing global reputation.

Travel + Leisure noted that US and European hotels dominated previous awards. Recognition of Asian hotels distinguished the rapid progress made by the region.

Celebrating its 11th year, the Travel + Leisure reader survey in association with Harris Interactive, the online market research firm, ranks the world’s best hotels, cities, islands, spas, hotel spas, tour operators/safari outfitters, cruise lines, airlines and car rental companies.

Readers were asked to recognise great travel experiences and leaders in global travel trends. Last year, Travel + Leisure honoured The Shilla Seoul in Its ‘500 World’s Best’ awards as ‘Best Hotel’ in South Korea, when it was again also the only Korean hotel to achieve a ranking.
