Dublin Convention Bureau trade workshop proves popular
Thursday, September 21, 2006
Dublin Convention Bureau, in association with several of its industry partners, will host a workshop for senior meeting planners from UK agencies and associations over the weekend of 20-22 October 2006. Interest in the event has been big and as far as suppliers are concerned places for the entire weekend are now completely full and an extensive waiting list is in operation.

Jean Evans, CEO of the Dublin Convention Bureau stated We are extremely excited about this wonderful opportunity to introduce influential buyers from a key market to the best that Dublin has to offer from a business tourism perspective! A carefully constructed itinerary includes a workshop with pre-scheduled appointments, fun activities that educate buyers about the city and its excellent suppliers and of course plenty of networking. As we hope to run this promotion on at least an annual basis, it’s crucial that we set the standard high from the outset. The quality and diversity of our product will be emphasised by site visits, team building, entertainment and both traditional and formal dinners.

She continued Support from the trade in Dublin has been phenomenal and illustrates how keen the city is to further develop the business tourism sector. Some of the partners working with us on making this event happen are Failte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Dublin Tourism, Conference Partners, Abbey Conference Services, Advantage ICO, The Westin, The Conrad, The Fitzwilliam, The Morgan, The Westbury and Old Jameson Distillery. We are grateful to everyone involved as without their cooperation the workshop simply would not take place and are really looking forward to hosting what we are convinced will be a wonderful, memorable and successful event!

Poll
How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
