Zoom Airlines fly more to Western Canada as European ski resorts suffer
Friday, December 22, 2006
Canada is enjoying outstanding levels of snow fall this winter with packed powder bases and snow capped mountains offering some of the best skiing experiences in the world. With European resorts encountering very little snow fall this winter, Western Canada is becoming an extremely attractive alternative for UK ski and snowboard enthusiasts looking for an outstanding snowsports holiday, with Zoom Airlines contributing to this trend.

Debbie Marshall, UK Director of Zoom Airlines said: “We have experienced outstanding demand for our Calgary and Vancouver flights this winter. Western Canada is enjoying terrific levels of snow fall and those seeking an exceptional independent snowsport holiday are looking beyond European resorts where they are guaranteed snow for the duration of their holiday. Canada hosts some of the most renowned ski resorts in the world including Whistler, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper all within easy reach from Vancouver and Calgary.”

Zoom recently launched an additional ski route from Glasgow to Calgary to cope with the huge demand for its low-cost scheduled flights throughout winter as a result of poor snow falls in European resorts.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
