Bavaria Hotel International opens new hotel in Doha

Bavaria City Suites Doha, operated by Bavaria Hotels International opens its doors to guests to Qatar in March 2007. Commenting on this soft opening, Thomas H F Gertz, CEO Bavaria Hotels International said, Bavaria Hotels International is delighted and honoured to be establishing a firm presence in Qatar with the opening of Bavaria City Suites Doha. We look forward to building close relationships with colleagues and neighbours, and to playing an active role in the continued development of this appealing city and establishing Qatar as a key MICE and Leisure Destination.

Mr Joseph Karam Bavaria City Suites Doha Executive Assistant Manager, commenting on the projected business mix, explained, With such a large property and an extensive range of services and facilities, Bavaria City Suites Doha will appeal to a wide variety of guests from local and regional markets as well as internationally. Initially, we anticipate that up to 70% of our guests will be longer term corporate clients, or families residing in Doha.

He added, Accommodation in the first of the four towers will open in March 2007.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
