ICCA on the move
Tuesday, February 20, 2007
After fifteen years ICCA Head Office will relocate within Amsterdam to a more modern, functional space. We`re totally squeezed into the current location, which was chosen when ICCA`s staff was less than two thirds the size it currently is, and the cramped, separate-office layout made it incredibly difficult for team-working and quite literally embarrassing when members visited to attend an ICCA Data workshop or to discuss future projects, said Martin Sirk, ICCA CEO.

ICCA`s Asia Pacific Office is also preparing to move, but this change is driven by expansion plans. We identified Asia as the region in which to grow our global research capacity, explained Sirk. We anticipate taking on two new researchers this year and another two in 2008. ICCA`s database of international association meetings is our members` key benefit and it is vital that we continue to invest heavily in expanding and improving its quality. This expansion will be good for all ICCA members and not just those in Asia Pacific, but to achieve this we needed to move to larger premises with an excellent IT infrastructure.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
