Kurds warn with bomb attacks on tourism targets in Turkey
Monday, March 05, 2007
A Kurdish armed group calls the European travelers and tourists to avoid traveling to Turkey as it threatens to attack in tourist facilities and regions within the country. The armed group is responsible for series of bombs attacks in Turkey. This warning is included in an announcement sent by the group in Firat’s News Agency.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) blames the European countries that are turned against Kurds in order to keep their financial interests in the region and it says that during the last month 15 Kurds were arrested in France and in Belgium as suspects for participation in terrorist attacks.

As the group states on its announcement “The denial of Turkey to withdraw its policy against Kurds and the participation of European countries in this policy it will result in bombing attacks against tourists and tourism facilities in Turkey.”

TAK has claimed responsibility for several attacks in Turkey. One of them has caused the death of 5 people in 2005 in the city of Kusandasi in the Western Coast of Turkey where many tourists spend their holidays. Turkey blames PKK for hiding behind the Falcons while the PKK insists that the Falcons has nothing to do with PKK.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
