On Monday, 18 March, IPK<.> International will present the latest findings from its World Travel Monitor at the ITB 2002.

Based on some one million interviews annually, now conducted in 52 home countries of international tourists, the World Travel Monitor is the largest and most representative survey of the behaviour of travellers around the world.
This year's press conference will focus on inside information about developments on the travel market prior to and after 11 September, and on the outlook for travel in 2002 based on special surveys conducted on three continents. It will feature the following topics:

travel by Germans in 2001 and their travel plans for 2002
travel by Europeans in 2001 and their plans for 2002
travel by Americans and Asians in 2001 and their plans for 2002

This event will also investigate the crisis following 11 September and will point out new ways to achieve growth.

Simultaneous translation into German and English will be provided for all the presentations. During the event participants will receive extensive documentation about the main findings of the World Travel Monitor.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
