Raffles expands presence in China
Thursday, March 15, 2007
Raffles Hotels & Resorts has extended its footprint in China with the Raffles Tianjin Hotel. The urban area of Tianjin is the third largest municipality in Mainland China, and is close to Beijing. As the city’s first penthouse hotel, Raffles Tianjin will preside over the city, occupying the top 32nd to 45th floors of Tianjin Centre’s West Tower.

“Raffles is a name well respected and regarded in the hospitality industry,” said Mr Fan Wei, Chairman of Tianjin Forte Puhe Development Company Limited. “It has a great reputation for managing world class hotels. As Tianjin Centre is an important icon of the city, we are confident that Raffles Tianjin will become not just a hotel of international renown, but will be well loved by residents of this city.”

“Tianjin is a dynamic and rapidly growing city with excellent business facilities and a rich heritage,” commented Mrs. Diana Ee Tan, Managing Director of Raffles Hotels & Resorts. “Raffles Tianjin will distinguish itself through the highest standards of hospitality, service and cuisine that are widely associated with the Raffles name.”

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2008.
