Abacus signs agreement with Oasis Hong Kong Airlines
Tuesday, April 24, 2007
Abacus International has signed an agreement to distribute airfare and inventory for low fare, long-haul carrier, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines. Passengers will be able to book their travel on Oasis Hong Kong Airlines through Abacus-connected travel agents.

Mr. Patrick Lai, Vice President, Airline Marketing and North Asia Region, Abacus International, said the partnership will greatly extend the marketing reach of the airline.

“Abacus is pleased to partner with Oasis Hong Kong Airlines and to be able to offer them efficient distribution and widest reach in Asia Pacific through our network of more than 15,000 travel agent subscribers in region. The partnership will also broaden our content offering to Abacus’ travel agent subscribers which will help them serve and deliver to a wider spectrum of customers,” said Mr Lai.

Mr Raymond Ng, General Manager, Sales & Marketing in Asia Pacific of Oasis Hong Kong Airlines welcomed the partnership. “Abacus was a natural choice to help us distribute our product, as they provide the best reach in the region at the best value. Our airline looks forward to launching a variety of exciting promotions with Abacus’ travel agents and employees in the coming months to develop affordable and reliable travel solutions for our customers.”

Since its launch in October 2006, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines has received more than 45,000 bookings to date, and is launching further routes to Europe and North America in the near future. In January, the airline celebrated the take-off of its 100th flight to London carrying its 25,000th passenger.

Mr. Ng said, “I am confident that our partnership with Abacus will help optimise our load factors and enhance our competitiveness in the market. Our vision to make long haul travel more accessible and affordable for both business and leisure travellers has now come to fruition.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
