Vacation.com aligns with new suppliers to support diversified membership
Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Vacation.com has signed a series of preferred partner agreements with a number of industry suppliers intended to create a stronger network of marketing alliances for the diverse agency membership. Among the new preferred suppliers are Pleasant Holidays and Homeric Tours, two popular operators that were recent additions.

Also new in 2007 are:

“These agreements will result in increased marketing support for Vacation.com members as well as enhanced commissions and promotional incentives,” said Steve Tracas, CTC, president and CEO, Vacation.com.

“In return for additional marketing support and increased member benefits from our preferred partners, Vacation.com will rally its members behind these brands to drive business,” he added.

At the same time that Vacation.com added new preferred partners, the travel marketing services organization ended agreements with a number of suppliers including: Bahamasair, Brendan Worldwide Vacations, Collette Vacations and Trans Am Travel in the U.S. market and Dan Tours, Harmony Vacations, and Collette Vacations in the Canada market.

“Supplier additions and deletions are membership market-driven decisions taken in conjunction with our Vacation.com Advisory Board and are ongoing throughout the year,” said Tracas. “Every supplier would like to be exclusive with us in their industry segment, but that would not meet the needs of our large and diversified membership,” he added.

Vacation.com maintains a list of approximately 100 preferred suppliers, many of which participate in the organization’s co-op Engagement Direct Marketing and E-Mail Marketing program.

How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
