Swiss-Belhotel secures hotel management agreement in Kuwait
Thursday, May 31, 2007
Recently at an official signing ceremony, Hong Kong headquartered Swiss-Belhotel International Middle East and Kuwait Plaza Hotel W.L.L. announced the hotel management agreement of Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait.

The management agreement is the first in Kuwait for Swiss-Belhotel International, a new entrant to the competitive Middle Eastern market.

The Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait will be a 4 star deluxe hotel, located in the commercial and banking district.

“We are proud to add the Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait to our range of managed properties. It is the first in a series of existing and new hotels that we are planning to add to our Middle Eastern portfolio over the coming years in both resort and city locations,” said Mr Gavin Faull, President, Swiss-Belhotel International.

“We embrace a philosophy of building mutually beneficial partnerships with property owners and investors so that their objectives and goals are achieved. We are confident that the strength of the union between Swiss-Belhotel International and Kuwait Plaza Hotel W.L.L. will be translated into great value and benefits for the future clients of Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait.” he said.

Commenting on the management agreement, Dr. Hamad I. Al-Tuwaijri, President Kuwait Plaza Hotel W.L.L. said, “We are looking forward to a fruitful partnership with Swiss-Belhotel International, a hotel management company which is highly regarded globally. The team at Swiss-Belhotel International is known for their management expertise, characterized by achieving a balance between financial objectives and the all important guest experience. The Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait enjoys a strong existing client base which with the added value of the Swiss-Belhotel brand, is expected to grow and strengthen the hotel’s position as a leader in the mid market niche of hotels in Kuwait.”

Swiss-Belhotel International manages hotels/resorts/serviced residences throughout Asia, in seven countries – China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and now Kuwait. There are several other new projects under development. To support the group’s rapid expansion plan, regional offices have been established in Dubai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta.

“We are currently in final negotiations for several other properties in the region including two in the United Arab Emirates. The Middle East region is one of the fastest growing areas in the world for the hotel and hospitality industry. We are excited to be a part of this dynamic expansion wave,” said Mr Faull.

Swiss-Belhotel International formed their Middle East division by establishing a Joint Venture company with Alpha Tours Dubai in late 2006.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
