Viva Macau appoints new CEO
Thursday, June 14, 2007
Following Viva Macau`s expansion with a number of key new routes, the airline appointed Con Korfiatis as its new Chief Executive. Mr Korfiatis, who is currently Viva`s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, has over 17 years of senior management experience in the industry in some of the region`s most successful airlines, including Qantas and Singapore Airlines. Mr Korfiatis was also the founding Chief Executive for Jetstar Asia, a Singapore based low cost airline.

Mr Korfiatis replaces Andrew Pyne, who resigned earlier in the month for personal reasons. Mr Pyne will remain as a shareholder and advisor to the board of Viva Macau.

Mr Korfiatis said, I would like to thank the board and shareholders of Viva Macau for their vote of confidence, and thank Andrew for his vision in bringing Viva Macau to its successful launch last December. With the additional routes awarded recently - including including Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and of course Tokyo and Sydney - I look forward to Viva Macau improving air access to and from Asia`s Las Vegas, and to growing the airline aggressively. Macau is the hot spot in Asia and with many new resort and entertainment developments opening in 2007 and beyond, the future is exciting.

Mr Pyne added It gives me enormous satisfaction to see Viva Macau now positioned for such exciting growth opportunities. I`m also delighted to be handing over to such a capable and experienced airline executive as Con.

Viva Macau Chairman Mr Ngan In Leng remarked, The Board of Directors thanks Andrew for his determination and energy in taking Viva Macau from the drawing board to the air. We are delighted that Con has agreed to step up to the Chief Executive position as Viva Macau prepares for rapid network expansion to a host of new destinations.

Meanwhile, Viva Macau`s shareholders, led by MKW Capital, have increased their investment in the airline. MKW Capital commented, Viva Macau has a uniquely strong and experienced management team, ready now to lead the airline - and Macau - to the next level with international connections across the Asia Pacific region and the world.

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.
