A new Crowne Plaza has opened in Washington increasing the IHG`s presence in US capital. The Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandria will undergo a multi-million dollar renovation to guestrooms, restaurants, meeting space and public areas, to be completed by year-end.
“We are pleased to add another Crowne Plaza to our Washington, D.C., portfolio,” said Kevin Kowalski, vice president, Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, North America. “The close proximity to government agencies and American history destinations will attract both business and leisure travelers. We’re proud to offer them our industry leading meetings service and Sleep Advantage program.”
The Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandria is owned by Oliver T Carr Company, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. At time of purchase, Oliver T Carr Company also acquired the nearby Holiday Inn & Suites Alexandria Historic District. With these two hotels and the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel, Oliver T Carr Company now owns three IHG properties, all of which are managed by IHG’s operations division, The Hotel Management Group.
“There’s no other company we’d rather have manage these three hotels than IHG,” said Oliver T Carr, principal owner, Oliver T Carr Company. “The Hotel Management Group knows IHG brands better than any other management company, and we’re confident that their operational excellence will drive the value of our hotels.”
