Hotusa adds its first five associated hotels in Croatia
Thursday, July 05, 2007
Just a month after disembarking in Montenegro, Hotusa Hotels continues expansion through the Balkans with the integration of its first five associated hotels in Croatia, the 43rd destination where it has presence. These additions form part of the 49 hotels that have become associated with Hotusa this past month of June.

Apart from its positioning in nearby markets like Germany and Italy, Croatia is recording an increase in the number of visitors coming from countries further afield. According to figures from the National Tourist Office, in 2005 Croatia received a total of 83,000 Spanish tourists, 45% more than the year before. Moreover, a new air route has recently been opened joining Barcelona with Dubrovnik. The forecasts point to a tendency towards a continued increase over the next few years, for which reason Hotusa Hotels sees no objections to increasing its presence in this destination.

The five Croatian hotels included in the Hotusa Hotels network belong to a local chain, Valamar Hotels & Resorts, and are located in the most dynamic areas of the country. In Dubrovnik, Hotusa Hotels has incorporated two establishments, the four-star Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel and the three-star Valamar Argosy Hotel,

The company’s Croatian portfolio is completed with three more establishments: the two-star Valamar Club Tamaris in Porec; the four-star Valamar Bellevue Hotel & Residence in Rabac; as well as the four-star Valamar Koralj Hotel, located on the island of Krk.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
