Olympic Airways signs cooperation with AMEX
Friday, July 06, 2007
A new cooperation has been signed between Olympic Airways and American Express, with the companies offering two programs that will help frequent passengers to earn free flights with Greece’s national carrier.

Olympic Airways will participate in the Membership Rewards Program of AMEX with the edition of a new co-branded credit cards series along with AMEX and Alpha Bank, AMEX’s partner in Greece.

The agreement has two parts:

According to the first one, the American Express cards holders who participate in the company’s reward program, will earn points when buying products with AMEX card. Then they will redeem these points to numerous offers including trips.

The second part of the agreement concerns the edition of co-branded OA’s cards in the current year. Olympic Classic American Express and Olympic Premium American Express are the first co-branded cards that are edited with the cooperation of Olympic Airways.

Mr. Tamer El-Emary, VP Airline Co-brands of American Express, said “We are pleased to expand our portfolio with a special designed tool to cover the needs of the frequent passengers. The new credit cards and the participation of Olympic Airways into the Membership Rewards Program aim at covering the financial needs but also the habits of the modern consumers. With these new credit cards and our cooperation with Olympic Airways we make a significant step forward.”

“It is extremely difficult for a company to keep its clients satisfied, in a more harsh and competitive environment that we live in. This is our target and we are happy to have the chance to offer to our customers two extraordinary products; access to a global membership rewards program and two very attractive co-branded cards that cover all the needs of the modern frequent flier. This cooperation is unique for the Greek market and a privilege for our dynamic entrance into the finance market with AMEX and Alpha Bank,” stated Mr. Leonardos – Odysseas Vlamis, CEO of Olympic Airways.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
