Aviapartner Catering signs 3 years contract with Jet Airways
Thursday, July 19, 2007
Aviapartner Catering announced the signature of a major contract with Jet Airways for the provision of Catering Services in Brussels. The contract was signed for a period of 3 years, starting 5 August 2007. Jet Airways will start operating daily flights with B777 aircraft to Mumbai (Bombay) and Newark. As of September, the airline will add daily flights to Delhi and Toronto with A-330. Aviapartner Catering will prepare meals for the First Class, Business Class and Economy Class passengers on the B-777 flights and for the Business Class and Economy passengers on the A-330 flights.

Jet Airways has particularly high quality standards in catering. The attribution of the contract to Aviapartner follows a stringent tender procedure, whereby the airline carried out a detailed quality study of Aviapartner Catering’s service and operation.

Aviapartner Catering Brussels will provide the full range of catering services including the production of cold and hot meals, tray setting, loading and unloading of catering, dishwashing, equipment management, soft drinks, wines and duty free goods.

Aviapartner Catering is now in the preparation phase for the start-up of this important additional catering operation and is looking for 50 extra staff, who will have to be recruited in the coming weeks: cooks, apprentice chefs, drivers for catering trucks, white collar staff, storekeepers, dishwashers, and logistical staff.

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
