Dublin will reinforce its credentials as an international conference destination to be reckoned with by hosting several major conferences in the latter part of 2007 including the 58th Annual Meeting of the European Association for Animal Production in August, the 21st World International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration (IFPRA) Congress in September, the World Dairy Summit in early October and the 10th Annual European Congress of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) in October.
Jean Evans, CEO of Dublin Convention Bureau, commented ‘Dublin is very much looking forward to welcoming the 3000 plus delegates that these four meetings alone will bring to the city and we are confident that our unique Irish warmth and hospitality combined with excellent scientific programmes, professional conference management by some of our top PCOs such as Ovation, Conference Partners and Platinum One, great accessibility and high quality venues and accommodation will ensure memorable and successful events for both delegates and association organizers alike’.
Ms Evans continued ‘The value of the meetings industry to Dublin and Ireland is gaining increasing recognition - the conferences mentioned above are worth in excess of €4 million to the economy - and I am convinced that recent landmark announcements in terms of VAT refunds, infrastructural developments and of course the new Convention Centre Dublin will have a positive impact on convincing meeting planners to consider and place their business in Dublin when previously we would not have come onto their radar at all’.
She concluded ‘Bringing people together to inspire and connect them both professionally and personally is one of our greatest strengths as a nationality and is a natural advantage for us in the meetings industry – now our improved offering in terms of venues, hotel stock, value for money and accessibility will help us marry the practical and intangible benefits of bringing a conference to Dublin and realise our goal of being a top ten European meetings destination’.
