Five New Park Inn Hotels in Germany
Thursday, July 26, 2007
The Rezidor Hotel Group, the Brussels-based hotel management company, expands its mid market Park Inn portfolio in Germany to 18 hotels. Three former Novotel and two Dormotel properties will be rebranded as Park Inn. With the addition of five Park Inn hotels, Rezidor adds 657 rooms to its portfolio and now has more than 300 hotels in operation and under development across Europe, the Middle East and Africa – an important milestone for the company.

The 180-room Park Inn Mannheim will join the Rezidor family this month, while the Park Inn Dusseldorf Sud with 118 rooms, is scheduled to be re-branded in September, 2007. October 2007 will see the addition of the Park Inn Bielefeld with 118 rooms and in early 2008, the 120-room Park Inn Hamburg Nord and the Park Inn Mainz, with 121 rooms, will complete the additional properties to the Rezidor portfolio.

“Breaking 300 is a significant milestone for our company”, comments Kurt Ritter, president & CEO of the Rezidor Hotel Group, “and opening five Park Inn hotels is an integral step for our strategic development in Germany”.

The new properties will be operated by Rezidor’s franchise partner Event Holding, which already runs seven existing Park Inn hotels in the country. “We are pleased to extend our partnership with Rezidor and look forward to future opportunities”, says Michael Bauer, Director of Operations for Event Holding.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
