Jakarta: Indonesian capital`s new friendly face to be unveiled at Dubai seminar

The city of Jakarta<.> is going all out to woo Middle East tourists and trade investors to the Indonesia<.>n capital with a dedicated seminar on tourism, trade and investment opportunities in the Far East hub, to be held in Dubai on May 8.

Addressing the `Moving With Confidence into a New Image of Jakarta` seminar, at the Emirates Towers Hotel, will be H.E. Ibrahim Yusuf, Indonesia`s Ambassador to the UAE and H.E. Mohammed Sultan Al Sawaidi, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia.

The programme is aimed at creating mutual business opportunities and also generating a significant increase in visitors from the region, said H.E. Ibrahim Yusuf. People will see the new friendly face of Jakarta which is keen on strengthening its relationship with the people of the Middle East.

Under the theme `Visit Jakarta - we do care`, Indonesia`s tourism development policy and the steps being taken to ensure the security and comfort of tourists visiting Indonesia`s capital city, including the role of the tourism police and the information system services network, will be outlined by a high ranking government delegation. It includes Setyanto P Santosa, Chairman, Indonesian Cultural and Tourism Board; Robert P Silalahi, Executive Director, Jakarta City, Government Tourism Office and Mrs Yanti Sukamdani, Chairman, Jakarta Tourism Board. Details of tour packages currently available will also be given.

In addition, the seminar will hear from Hussain Nalkhanday, Sales Manager, Emirates airline, Dubai and Northern Emirates, on the growth of Jakarta bound tourism.

On trade and investment Gebyar Triono, Secretary of Jakarta`s Investment and Business Empowerment Board will outline the commercial opportunities available to Middle Eastern investors.

The seminar will take place as the city launches a major promotion at Arabian Travel Market, the Middle East`s premier travel and tourism industry show, which runs at the Airport Expo Dubai from May 7-10.

At ATM<.>, the Indonesian stand will be manned by travel and tour operators from the country and feature lively cultural performances.

On May 11, a gala dinner of the Francophone Countries Association will be hosted by the Jakarta delegation in Abu Dhabi.

The Jakarta promotion is backed by the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Jakarta`s Agency for Export Promotion and Indonesia`s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
