Crowne Plaza makes debut in Colorado
Tuesday, August 07, 2007
A four-story 500-room Crowne Plaza hotel in Colorado Springs will open within the month as IHG revealed. According to the hotel operator the conversion property will be the largest branded hotel in the Colorado Springs market.

“This market has a number of growing demand generators, including multiple military installations, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Olympic Training Center,” said Kevin Kowalski, senior vice president, Worldwide Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. “We feel the time is right to bring a meetings-focused upscale asset like Crowne Plaza to Colorado Springs.”

The Crowne Plaza Colorado Springs is owned by Stamford Real Estate Investments Ltd. and Harrell Hospitality Group and managed by Harrell Hospitality Group, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

“We’ve invested $12 million to renovate this property to exceed Crowne Plaza brand standards,” said Jon Kranock, general manager. “Our large room inventory and meeting space are an opportunity to attract convention business, and we’re proud to be affiliated with a meetings-savvy brand like Crowne Plaza.”
