On the island of Al Reem, located to the northeast of the city of Abu Dhabi, a large number of ultramodern residential and commercial districts will be developed within the next 15 years. The first project, set for completion in 2009, is called Marina Square: Alongside a vast array of shopping outlets, entertainment opportunities and restaurants, the new 5-star Movenpick Hotel Al Reem will be constructed there.
Movenpick Hotels & Resorts has recently signed a management agreement for the project with the owner Tamouh Investments LLC.
Movenpick Hotels & Resorts has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry in the Middle East and has built up an excellent reputation, explains Joe Ong, CEO of Tamouh Investments LLC. The international hotel group is in a process of substantial expansion in the United Arab Emirates and we look forward to working together with them for many years to come.
We believe that the rapid development and remarkable construction projects in and around Abu Dhabi offer great potential, says Jean Gabriel Peres, President & CEO Movenpick Hotels & Resorts. Alongside Dubai, gaining a foothold in Abu Dhabi and other emirates is one of our clear expansion targets. We are proud to have found, in Tamouh Investments LLC, a strong partner for this extraordinary project.
The island of Al Reem, covering an area of 6.2 million sqm, is situated some 350 meters from the shoreline in the city’s northeast and around 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi’s international airport. Marina Square will occupy 1.2 million sqm of the area, of which 70 % is earmarked for residential districts and 30 % for commercial use. The project encompasses 14 skyscrapers, a shopping arcade, six cinema complexes, a range of premium brand retail outlets, restaurants, as well as the Movenpick Hotel Al Reem with a view over the Marina. The construction of several bridges will connect the island with the city.
