Worldspan global distribution system receives high ranking
Thursday, October 04, 2007
Worldspan ranked 76 on the 2007 InformationWeek 500, revealed at a September gala awards ceremony, part of the exclusive InformationWeek 500 conference in Tucson, Arizona as Travelport GDS announced. The ranking elevates Worldspan`s 2006 standing from 128 on the list, moving the company into the top 100 and representing the only global distribution system (GDS) company to achieve such a position this year.

For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the United States most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.

We`d like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. These companies represent today`s leading technology innovators, many of whom have joined us this week, said InformationWeek vice president and publisher, John Siefert. This group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward looking business technology initiatives to date.

It is an honor for Worldspan to once again be included in the InformationWeek 500, and particularly to rank among the top 100 companies in 2007, said Sue Powers, chief information officer, Travelport GDS. As thelatest addition to Travelport GDS, Worldspan will continue to deliver innovative technologies that ensure the best possible experience for all participants in travel. Worldspan by Travelport and sister GDS Galileo by Travelport are focused on improving customer efficiencies, operations, sales and services, and providing the tools and content delivery capabilities they need to offer the best travel buying experiences to the traveling public worldwide.

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
