DWTC reaffirms vision to make Dubai top destination for events
Thursday, October 04, 2007
Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has reaffirmed its strategic vision to establish Dubai as the world’s leading destination for all major exhibitions, conferences and events, at a special event for employees and partners. The plan has been developed in line with the Dubai 2015 vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which emphasises Dubai as a major city and the importance of encouraging international business visitors.

To commemorate the goal, DWTC unveiled a specially-commissioned mural by locally-based artist Omar Sami and a team from Eyesquad, which uses photographic images of over 1,300 DWTC staff members to recreate the iconic Dubai World Trade Centre Tower.

The event also saw the launch of a DWTC fund drive for Dubai Cares, the pioneering charity initiative which aims to educate one million children from poor countries around the world. A volunteer team of employees from across the diverse range of DWTC businesses has been assembled to lead the fund-raising efforts.

“Dubai World Trade Centre hosted this event to articulate our corporate objectives and demonstrate our core values that are aligned to the Dubai Strategy 2015 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It provided an important milestone to mark our ongoing development as an international venue for meetings, conferences and events,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.

“In every aspect of our business, individual employees make a major contribution. That contribution is reflected in the enthusiastic support that Dubai Cares has generated across DWTC and we have high expectations for our ongoing fund-raising activity,” he added.

To create the DWTC Mural, employees sat for portrait photographs over a period of three days. The resulting artwork installation will be displayed at locations around DWTC properties.
