Jet2holidays.com adds two more destinations to its Mediterranean portfolio
Thursday, October 11, 2007
Jet2holidays.com, the tour operator in the North, has announced that Crete and Cyprus will join the hotlist of top Mediterranean destinations to receive the ‘Jet2holidays.com treatment’. The tour operator, has now broken into the Greek and Cypriot market, with the first holidays starting on the 4th and 20th May 2008 for Cyprus and Crete respectively.

Following on from its launch last month of packages to Sharm-El-Sheikh, Jet2holidays.com has reiterated its position as being a mass market tour operator by this latest destination news. Jet2holidays has secured a large range of luxurious three, four and five-star accommodation on both islands.

On Crete, will offer packages in the resorts of Malia, Sissi, Hersonissos and Gouves. Flights for the first holidays will leave Leeds Bradford Airport with low cost airline Jet2.com on the 20th May to Heraklion, the island’s main airport.

The ever-popular island of Cyprus will now be closer than ever for residents of Yorkshire and beyond as well, with first flights from Leeds Bradford Airport with Jet2.com departing on the 4th May to Paphos Airport.

Mandy Round, General Manager, Jet2holidays.com, said: “We’re delighted to launch low cost holidays to Crete and Cyprus as they are two of the most popular islands in the Mediterranean. Crete and Cyprus are excellent additions to our strategy; not only do they suit first time visitors who are looking to discover the excellent beaches, vibrant nightlife and great local culture but they have a distinct charm that means people return year after year.”

“Key to solidifying our position as the pre-eminent mass market tour operator in the North is the introduction of destinations that will encourage repeat revenue from passengers. Crete and Cyprus represent two such destinations and they fit perfectly into our long term strategy of having an unparalleled selection of long-standing destinations.”

“In launching Crete and Cyprus we are stating our commitment to destinations outside of the traditional resorts in Spain and the Balearics, whilst eschewing the ‘hit and run’ tactics of many tour operators. When we launch a destination, we do so for the long-term and Crete and Cyprus are no exception.”

Poll
How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
