KLM and Copa Airlines sign codesharing agreement
Tuesday, October 16, 2007
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Copa Airlines have signed a code share agreement. From March 30th, 2008, KLM passengers on flights between Amsterdam and Panama will be able to book under KLM flight numbers for connecting services operated by Copa Airlines. Copa Airlines passengers can connect at Panama to Amsterdam under a Copa flight number.

Pedro Heilbron, CEO for Copa Airlines and Hans de Roos SVP Strategy & Corporate Development for KLM, have signed this agreement for flights between the two convenient hubs of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Panama City Tocumen Airport at a ceremony, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Panama City. Flying Blue and One Pass benefits will be available for passengers on both airlines on all flights system wide.

Pedro Heilbron, CEO for Copa Airlines commented: “This agreement is an important milestone for Copa Airlines, bringing the Amsterdam Schiphol hub and our hub De Las Americas in Panama closer together, delivering our customers more choice and improved travel options”.

Hans de Roos SVP Strategy & Corporate Development for KLM commented: “We are pleased to sign a code share agreement with our new SkyTeam partner. This agreement will extend the benefits available to our customers and strengthen our presence in the Central and South American region”.

The new service between Amsterdam and Panama was announced on October 1st 2007, and will start on March 30th, 2008.

Copa Airlines has recently joined SkyTeam as Associate Member on September 4th, 2007.
