Six Continents<.> Hotels has appointed Thomas Schmelter as the new General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Jeddah.

Schmelter has previously worked with Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UK and Germany, and most recently was Resident Manager of the Jeddah Inter-Continental Hotel. He holds degrees from the Hotel Management School in Tegernsee and Munich, Germany and has taken several advance management courses at the Washington State University.

The 323-room Crowne Plaza Jeddah, situated only 25 minutes drive from Jeddah International Airport on the Corniche, overlooking the Red Sea, is popular with business or leisure travellers. It is one of 26 Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties managed by Six Continents Hotels in Saudi Arabia.
