TTG travel awards 2007 celebrates with travel trade victors

REPORT – IT&CMA-CTW 2007 – BANGKOK: The Asia Pacific travel industry applauded 66 best performing travel trade organizations and individuals tonight at the annual TTG Travel Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, a
prestigious event held at Sofitel Centara Grand, Bangkok attended by 800 eminent travel trade professionals.

The TTG Travel Awards is a highly celebrated event and the winners are widely recognised by their peers for being the best in the industry. Keeping in step with the rapid growth of the industry, the annual event introduced five new awards this year. TheTravel Suppliers Awards category saw an addition of Best Luxury Hotel Brand, Best Mid-range Hotel Brand, Best Budget Hotel Brand and Best Mid-range Hotel (Individual Property). The Travel Agent Awards category added on a Best Travel Agency – Indochina (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam) award.

The complete list of winners for the TTG Travel Awards 2007 is detailed in Annex A. Winners of the Travel Agents and Travel Suppliers Awards were determined by votes cast by readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTGmice and TTG-BTmice China between June and August, while the winners of the Outstanding Achievement Awards were determined by TTG editorial team.

More than 17,000 TTG readers across Asia Pacific participated in the voting exercise this year. This translates to a 31% response rate.

TTG Asia Media’s managing director, Mr Darren Ng, said: “I am heartened to see how much the TTG Travel Award have grown in prestige and level of industry-wide recognition since its inauguration in 1989. That is the raison d`etre for the TTG Travel Awards – to inspire trade professionals to improve or maintain the highest quality of service and products, which in turns ensure the positive growth of Asia Pacific’s travel and tourism sector.”

The elite group of the Travel Hall of Fame – Singapore Airlines, Singapore Changi Airport, Hertz Asia-Pacific and Royal Cliff Beach Resort – were also recognised at the gala event for having won in the Awards for more than 10 times. Singapore Airlines and Changi International Airport were inducted in 2002, and Hertz Asia-Pacific and Royal Cliff Beach Resort in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The TTG Travel Awards 2007 Ceremony and Gala Dinner is held together on the last day of Asia Pacific’s leading MICE and corporate travel events, IT&CMA and CTW. The two trade events saw an attendance of more than 1,600 international attendees.
