New Director General to lead Mexico Tourism Board

Oscar Fitch Gomez has been appointed Director General of the Mexico Tourism Board with immediate effect by Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres. Oscar Fitch Gomez, originally from Tijuana, Baja California, now directs Mexico Tourism Board strategy and takes overall responsibility for the promotion of Mexico as a brand and tourism destination in the domestic market and abroad.

Elizondo Torres highlighted Fitch Gomez’s experience in the public and private sectors, and said: “Oscar Fitch Gomez is a heavyweight marketer with a proven track record and his expertise will drive forward ‘brand Mexico’ on local and global levels.”

Prior to his appointment, Oscar Fitch Gomez held executive positions at one of Mexico’s leading brewers, founded Fitch & Associates lobbying consultancy, and was President of Mexico’s Business Advisory and Co-ordination Board (CCE) for over 12 years.

In addition, Oscar Fitch Gomez fulfilled a role as a member of the Committee for Technical Marketing at the Mexico Tourism Board. Fitch Gomez studied Marketing at the Technological Institute of higher education of Monterrey (ITESM) and completed a postgraduate degree at Harvard University.
