Northwest Airlines reports May traffic

Northwest Airlines<.> announced a system-wide May load factor of 78.8 percent, 2.1 points above May 2001. System-wide Northwest flew 6.12 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.77 billion available seat miles (ASMs) in May 2002, resulting in a traffic decrease of 8.8 percent and a capacity decrease of 11.2 percent versus May 2001.

May international traffic was down 9.7% on a 10.6% decrease in capacity. May domestic traffic was down 8.0% on an 11.7% decrease in capacity.

Northwest boarded 4.5 million passengers, down 9.8 percent from last year.
